When you read the diaries and letters in the Montana Historical Society Archives of the people who settled Montana, crossing streams and rivers is frequently mentioned. Today we take for granted the bridges that move us easily back and forth over the streams and rivers of Montana. In 1906 the Reno Walters family had to use the McKinney Ferry to get across the Yellowstone River.
