Nominations are being sought for the 2016 Leopold Conservation Award® in Wyoming. The award, presented by Sand County Foundation, the Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) and Peabody Energy, recognizes Wyoming ranchers who demonstrate outstanding, sustainable management of natural resources.
The Leopold Conservation Award is given in ten states in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, who called for an ethical relationship between people and the land they own and manage.
The $10,000 annual award is presented as the most prestigious award within the Wyoming Stock Growers Association’s Environmental Stewardship Program. It also includes a ranch sign, a crystal depicting Aldo Leopold and an automatic entry into the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s regional awards program.
“The WSGA Environmental Stewardship Program is proud to have completed our 20th year of recognizing the careful management of our natural resources by Wyoming’s ranchers,” WSGA Executive Vice President Jim Magagna said. “Each year WSGA and our partners look forward to honoring outstanding landowners for the contribution they make to our state’s economy, environment and culture.”
