STATE FAIR OFFERS CONCERTS, CONTESTS AND COMPETITIONS FOR ALL
DOUGLAS, WY – The Wyoming State Fair starts Saturday and will bring with it national entertainment acts, PRCA rodeo action, agricultural competition, education, food and fun from August 8th-15th at family friendly affordable prices.
“With affordable prices and a family friendly environment, the Wyoming State Fair has something for everyone to enjoy,” said James Goodrich, Director of the Wyoming State Fair. “This year we have rising stars coming to perform in our three concerts, fun and affordable grandstand entertainment, free entertainment for all ages, agriculture shows, exhibits, carnival rides and more that will make the 2015 Wyoming State Fair an experience to remember.”
The three headline concert nights at the 2015 Wyoming State Fair will feature exciting artists who are both critically and commercially acclaimed. Dan + Shay will be kicking it off with 2014 CMA New Artist of the Year singer Brett Eldredge on August 11th. Christian rockers Hawk Nelson will open for GMA Contemporary Album of the Year singer Matt Maher on August 12th. And finally, Wyoming’s own Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band and country star Jerrod Neimann on August 15th. All concert tickets are $25 and are available at the Ticket Office on the fairgrounds.
The Ford Grandstand Arena will be host to more than just music. It will also feature a demolition derby on August 8th, Pig N’ Mud wrestling on August 10th, PRCA Rodeo action on August 13th-14th, and the State Fair Ranch Rodeo Finals on August 15th. Adult tickets are $15 and youth tickets (ages 3-12) are $7 for most events. Along with the grandstand events, there are also numerous vendors on the Midway and wide variety of free entertainment acts including music, puppets, kids play areas, clowns, and DockDogs.
The Wyoming State Fair continues to maintain a focus on agriculture and youth programs. Each day of the fair there are 15 to 25 agricultural events, shows and meetings that showcase the skills and ability of Wyoming’s farmers, ranchers and youth organizations. Since 1905, the Fair has been the “Show window of Wyoming” and it maintains that ideal even in 2015.
From gardening and flower arranging to quilting and photography, people from across Wyoming have a multitude of contests in which they can compete at the Fair. There are hundreds of options to showcase talents and skills in Douglas with prizes and ribbons for best in show. Among those are two new contests this year: The 1st Annual Farm Junk Sculpture Contest and the Golf Cart Decorating Competition. Both offer a chance to showcase creativity while having some fun.
