Youngest, Wildest, Pony Riders at the 2016 NILE Rodeo

by

Billings, MT–The toughest kids in the west compete in Wild Pony Racing at the NILE rodeo October 20-22, at MetraPark.

Teams of three must hold on, get on, and stay on a wild pony for a maximum of two seconds. The team that can do that the fastest wins! The anchor holds the end of the lead rope, the mugger holds the pony, and the rider has to get on and stay on the pony. Five teams compete during the rodeos Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21–the top two teams from each night return for the final round Saturday night, October 22.

It wild and hilarious. When even the most seasoned rodeo goers are leaning on the fence watching, it's a good indicator of enrapturing entertainment. This event is in place of mutton bustin.

Three kids 12 and under and weighing less than 150 pounds. Teams must be turned into office with all three teams members forms completed and signed before teams are considered entered. Teams must also pay in full at time of entry to be considered entered and entries close Friday, October 14.

Teams will be drawn but can indicate at entry time whether they have a preference of Thursday or Friday night. Teams will be notified of their draw Tuesday, October 18. Parents must sign liability release $60 entry fee per team.

Ponies provided by Lazy 3S Rodeo Co.
