Montana Wheat & Barley Committee to host public panels with wheat breeding candidates

The Montana Wheat and Barley Committee is inviting Montana producers and stakeholders to participate in public Q & A sessions with the five finalists for two tenure track breeding positions in Montana State University’s Department of Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology in the College of Agriculture. The open positions are for a spring wheat breeder and a winter wheat breeder.

“The Montana Wheat and Barley Committee is focused on helping producers see their checkoff dollars at work,” said Cassidy Marn, Executive Vice President of the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee. “Dr. Phil Bruckner and Dr. Luther Talbert each retired with a very strong record of conducting research relevant to our wheat growers and of releasing high yielding and high end-use quality varieties popular with Montana growers. This is an opportunity for Montana stakeholders to meet the candidates, ask questions and provide feedback to the search committee.”

Tuesday, August 3: “Breeding and Genomics-Based Research to Improve Wheat and Grasses,” Dr. Xuefeng Ma, Assistant/Associate Professor, Noble Research Institute, Ardmore, OK.

The event is finished.
